Usually when I hear a film advertised, there seems to be a deep American-accented voice outlining the synopsis of what is meant to be happening throughout the course of the film. It never seems to be female, and always seems to be the same kind of voice.

If someone could tell me why this choice is so common in Western cinema, I would be extremely grateful. :]
