Whoops… should’ve browsed around a bit more before making my first post.

Hi, I’m Nonamys. I’m 29, married, and have a 10 month old son. I got my first (and only) ink about 10 years ago (a small celtic symbol on my lower back). I also have various “basic” piercings – navel, ears, right ear cartilage, and what’s left of a tongue piercing (it’s been out for about 2 years). I enjoy the expansion of getting more body art, but I don’t like to go about it frivolously – it must always be something I *want* to have, and it’s always been about what look I like not what everyone else says. I’ve made a lot of growth & life changes in the past decade, and I think I’ve finally found the perfect design for my next tattoo.

I have designed a tattoo that is very very meaningful for me. I’ve always loved the look of the side tattoo, and I’d ideally like it to go from the top of my hips at the back, and wrap around to terminate just below my right breast.

My one concern is that I am a big woman. I weigh just over 200 lbs. I’ve included a pic of my waistline & the design I’d like (I plan on getting it re-done by someone with actual artistic talent ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I’d like some “professional” opinions on if this will look ridiculous on me? Also, if you have any information for galleries that might have images of other bigger girls with side tattoos, I would greatly appreciate it. I’ve spent the last few hours googling, and haven’t found anything that matches my “in between” body type – I’m not an athletic build, but I’m not morbidly obese, either.

Don’t worry, a talented tattoo artist will be able to shape it to your body after they’ve re-drawn it to look the best it can ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi

I have seen hundreds of tattoos on curvy to very much larger ladies and to be honest as long as the tattoo is done to suit your shape they always look fine.

Just think how many of us fat blokes are around sporting ink without a second thought.

Thank you so much for all the feedback! You’ve all assuaged my final stumbling block. My husband’s cousins owns one of the premier shops in the Denver area, and he’s already expressed interest in helping me do the design. Can’t wait to get this rolling!!

I’ll come back to post the final product. Thanks again!

Well, looks like we’ll all have to wait. Just got a positive pregnancy test! Much as I want this tattoo now, I will resist the urge & wait until #2 comes along.

The opposite for me. I don’t have any kids, and when a specialist deems me mature enough, i’d love to have a vasectomy. Kids have never been on the agenda for me.
