Talk is cheap in the world of art – talk is for politicians. If you are too ashamed to show your work (art on paper or tattoo) in a tattoo community which is inherently art, then why bother coming here at all? And why come in with such a defensive attitude. Why do we welcome scratchers here? Fuck that

Because scratchers are tattoo enthusiasts, too. You don’t have to approve of how we go about tattooing, or how we learned. No, I’m not as good as a professional, but that doesn’t mean my work is shit. I inform everyone I tattoo that I am not licensed or formally trained, they…[Read more]

First off, welcome to the forum Matt.

Secondly, your initial post is so full of animosity that it’s no wonder some people might choose to get annoyed. Not because you’re a scratcher, but because you come in here with an attitude and automatically assuming everyone here is an asshole.

I’ve done one tribal so far, but it was with a stencil. That one came out pretty good, so I’ll see if I can meet up with the guy who has it for a picture. I think a tribal is in my future as well, once I decide on a location.

I was a member on a different tattoo forum, who apparently had an unwritten “ban on sight” policy towards “scratchers”, so I sort of became accustomed to a certain level of dislike.
