I say stay out of the pool for 3-4 weeks. Chlorinated water is bad for a new tattoo. When you do get back in the pool I would keep a thin layer of A&D ointment on it to keep it moist and protected for the first week or so since chlorine has a very drying effect.

I totally agree with scrubmuncher. Why would YOU decide to put holes in your daughter’s ears? I love piercings and tattoos, but I waited until my daughter ASKED me to get her ears pierced before she got them done. She was 6 at the time. I forgot to tell you to wash it gently and make sure to rinse it gently, but make sure all the soap is rinsed off.

The color looks cloudy because the artist went too deep and you have scar tissue. It will probably look grey instead of black when it has finished healing. The picture shows that you have scabs, which is not supposed to happen with a good tattoo.

It is totally normal for your tattoo to flake off some color, or black in your case. I read the other posts and I have never heard of not getting your tattoo wet. If your tattoo is peeling, that is normal, but if it actually has a scab on it then the artist went too deep into your skin.
Did the same artist do both of your tattoos? I had a tattoo scab up on my ankle and it scarred and took the ink out of it.
I had to get it re-done 3 times to get it to look o.k., still looks kinda smeared though.

I knew a woman who got a tattoo excised on her hand and it turned out wonderfully. You have to have enough loose skin where the tattoo is for them to remove it and sew it up. I am getting one removed in Memphis, TN. The cost here is about $300 per session. Home made ones are supposed to be easier to remove. If you wanted to travel, the Dermatology Realm in Memphis is doing a really great job on mine- no scarring at all.

I have a tattoo on my neck I am getting removed. I have had 3 to 4 sessions and I am getting very good results. Cost is $300 per session and the pain is almost unbearable but I want to become a nurse so I must get it off.
