My mandarin professor told our whole class that in her career she has had way too many students show her their symbol, and the meaning was something totally different then what they thought they had.

Check at your local university in the language department maybe they can help.

Definitely do that ^ My rule of thumb with tattoo translations: Get someone who speaks that language as their native tongue, or someone who is HIGHLY educated in the language. This way you avoid any translation errors.

I feel like a portrait is always a great way to do a memorial tattoo! However, I considered it once, (for my great grandmother) but decided against it. Although this may sound stupid to some people, but I would never want to be “in the bedroom” and strip down to seeing a portrait of my great grandmother. So maybe a back placement or something…[Read more]

Yeah I will definitely talk to the artist and see how it would work out! I don’t know about getting it on my rib cage, I already have a piece reaching from a little below my belly button up to a little under my chest, and it spans my whole front. So I already have some rib cage taken up already. As far as an artist I was thinking about finding…[Read more]

I didn’t even think about the junk ship, amazing idea thank you! TooManyNotEnough, I’m not DEAD set on a sleeve but that if I can work it out it’s my first choice. A chest piece would be nice too, however I’m not really into back pieces, mainly because I can’t see them!

Thanks Adler, my search ended with the same conclusion about there not really being any traditional japanese artists around here. Julio’s work did look pretty damn nice though, I’m pretty close to New Haven, so I’ll probably stop in and see if I can talk to him about it. Honestly I would love to go to Ny, but its a pain to get down there and I’m a…[Read more]
