hello guys, im new to the forum and mainly joined to get help with a tattoo that i have wanted for sometime now. I want to get Fortes Fortuna Juvat tattooed on me; im just not sure of a design. I only have two tattoos on my two deltoids. So the rest of my body is pretty much an open canvas. I was just hoping people could help me decide on a placement and design idea. Thanks.


oh by the way the phrase means Fortune Favors the Brave. It was my units motto while i was in the military.

Maybe incorporate more things that are connected to whatever unit you were in? More information about that could lead to better or more ideas

I just looked really quick and found: 3d Marine Regiment and thats it so far.

yea i was in 3rd Marine Regiment, it was a grunt regiment and its on Marine Corps Base Kaneohe in Hawaii. I was in communications; my job was basically i telephone switchboard operator/telephone repair man.

what kind of design did you have in mind? where did you think you want to place it? How big did you want to go? did you want to go with the military theme? Throw us some of your ideas and we can give you some input. i would love to help you out and give you my opinion but you gotta tell what you had in mind. No one here can decide for you. im not trying to be an ass just throw out your ideas.

uh i really dont care where it is, i pretty much have my whole body for placement. i dont want it to be military themed, i already have an USMC tat so i got that covered. I dont have a certain design in mind. the only thing i was able to think of was getting the phrase tattooed across my chest from collar bone to collar bone in a certain font called abaddon.

your idea of script across the chest from collar bone to collar bone sounds solid. there used to be this show on the history channel called fight quest. there was a guy on there that had scipt from collar bone to collar bone, and it looked rad. man you got a solid idea, i like it. keep me posted on any other ideas.

personally i like black. i think blue or red might be hard to read. on second thought red would probably look nice. blue for sure no.

This might be odd... but the first thing I thought of was a fortune cookie with that text shooting out one side. Or a cracked open fortune cookie with the fortune sticking out. That would be pretty bad ass... Not going to lie.

Or you could do something that represents fortune to you and wrap the lettering around it.
