my artist that we use on Maui did this,I like this style,

not that I want the exact tattoo, question is about the colors,

is this acceptable for a heterosexual man ?

or does it scream gay/lesbian ? (not that I have any kind of issue with gays or lesbians)

when you first look at this tattoo do you think gay/lesbian ? or does it matter ?

I did a lot of research prior to getting lizard tattoos, but none had the rainbow colors.

Similar rainbow colored tattoos do show up when googling gay and lesbian tattoos.

However, when I questioned members here when I first joined the opinion was if you like it get it.
I have always been secure in my heterosexuality not to care what others think.

Just don’t get it on your ass! And, send pictures!

I was just in Palm Springs, and noticed a lot of Pride there. Even the hotel I stayed at was painted rainbow style (the Sagauro). Loved the hotel, btw, and would recommend it to anyone, regardless of their sexual identification.

An artist could do the same kind of colour change idea in a tattoo without it being the rainbow hues. Same feeling without sending an unintended message.

I’m gonna say the same as Ralphie May; I WANT THE RAINBOW BACK!

Okay, I’m bi(in a lesbian phase at the moment. Well. until I saw those hot, inked up american techs at work today… Go USA. but the vocalist in band perry was still cuter) so I can technically use the rainbow as much as I damn well feel like.
But back on track; I don’t consider it a gay symbol. I just think “ooooh pretty colors!!” I’m covered in color, and it has nothing to do with my sexual orientation. It never even crossed my mind to display any kind of pride.. I’d totally get a rainbow colored tattoo without it having anything to do with it.

And I think it’s a bit of an old school thing, guys not wanting color, flowers, things they consider girly. But lately I’ve seen lots of guys with beautiful flower tattoos or other images that are typically feminine, and it doesn’t change their general look, attitude, image etc, at all. Only men who feel a need to make a statement about how hetero and manly they are, would have an issue. (And they are all closeted bears. Bulletproof.) Today you’re not abnormal unless you have both tits and a dick, and honestly, those people don’t have a problem getting laid. AT ALL. So I don’t see a problem. I don’t know how that’s relevant, but I just felt like putting it out there.
/Freak out. (Disclaimer; I’ve had a 15hour day and I might just have gone on about unicorns. I’m rambling. Hope it made sense. If not, ask again in 12hours. I should be awake)

it is relevant and I really appreciate your honest input,I am old school & very accepting of all lifestyles at the same time,I was raised by a 60’s crazy liberal hippie,I have a very open mind,

in the 70’s I thought rainbows were just cool colors too,I want to get a piece with those colors in it,I just wanted to hear some opinions,I am far from a homophobic old guy.

thank you again, for the awesome reply ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m of the school “If ya like it, get it” – but very little screams, or even whispers, “gay” to me as I just don’t think that way (I just don’t care one way or the other). I too think “Pretty Colors!”. But this is from a guy who has a rather prominent “Tramp Stamp” (black roses) as well as a brightly colored Lotus flower on the nape of his neck. So YMMV!

I personally like it, but I (obviously) like “pretty” tattoos, not the “bad ass” stuff most guys get.

It’s really tough to put geometric designs on a body that is not geometric.
    Killer piece!

I wasn’t talking about certain solid colors, but was talking about pieces with rainbow type blending in the piece like the shark I posted.

I think you would be ok with the colors Dan. That shark doesn’t really scream “gay” to me. Like GoBeavers mentioned earlier just a rainbow might seem a little off on a straight man but with the colors incorporated as in the tattoo you posted, I think it would be just fine. At the end of the day though ya gotta get what you like, if someone doesnt like it, screw em. As long as you like it, that’s really all that matters.

Didn’t mean to imply you were judgmental at all ๐Ÿ™‚ I get being skeptical, not because one is homophobic, but also in fear of stepping on anyones toes, or suddenly tattooing a symbol that is a strong and normal representation of something you’re not.

But yeah, you should be fine really. I mean, if you get porn stache and wear a rainbow t-shirt, some might get the wrong impression. But in a tattoo.. Nah, I think you’re good.
