    I admit it, I love my sci-fi series. I grew up with the original Star Trek series, love the original Star Wars movies and think it was a crime Firefly had such a short run.

    Therefore, I have been thinking back and forth how to pay homage to that. Clearly, it wasn’t going to be a small piece.

    The ships? Nah, that would need to be huge to turn out well.
    Quotes? Meh. Overdone.
    Portraits? Jesus, nope.
    Insignia/Badges? Errrr.. No, sorry.

    Eventually, I set for:
    TOS phaser

    Han’s blaster pistol
    STAR-WARS-ANH-Han-Solo-DL44-Blaster-Movie-Prop-Replica.jpg

    Mal’s pistol

    And a ribbon wrapping around them with a condensed phrase I took from each show.

    I have the phrasing for two and the general gist of one.

    Star Trek: Explore the Unknown (taken from the show opener, also known as the Captain’s Oath, pending rephrasing)
    Star Wars: Defy the Odds (taken from “Never tell me the odds”)
    Firefly: Aim to Misbehave (short enough to keep as it is)

    That would go down the front and side of my thigh.

    Thoughts?

    Personally, I don’t like text tattoos, but have fun with them, and keep us posted.

    Thanks guys, it’s nowhere near being my next one so I expect this to evolve and mature before it gets done. Might have to post the actual next planned one.

    I don’t normally like text tattoos much either, it really would need to be as short as it gets so the text doesn’t take over the whole thing.

    More sci-fi geeks! JAY! I have one Star Wars tattoo, and am def considering more sci-fi ink in the future. I thought about a blaster as well, but can’t really decide on one.
    Sounds like it’s gonna be a cool tattoo! Where are you gonna place it? 🙂

    I really like the idea and I think the text will really work for this one…

    I will have a star trek tattoo one day, also planning on a hitchhikers guide tattoo. Be sure to post pics when you get this, can’t wait to see it.
